The Irish Cupboard Kids
 

As a new breeder, I knew that Bozi was nearing his manliness, but he hadn’t begun to show the signs of being interested in the Girls yet.  All he did was wrestle them!  He and Ms. Skadi had been like “peas and carrots”, to quote Forrest Gump, since he arrived at our home.  Then one day, she started acting weird!  She didn’t want to wrestle!  All she did was crouch down on her front paws and raise her back paws, and make a growling kind of noise, something he’d never heard from her before.  So he decided to take matters into his own paws, and tackled her!  He was going to wrestle her until she shut up!  And she finally did!  A few weeks later her belly began to round.  Exactly 65 days later, the babies arrived! 

They arrived right at St. Patrick’s Day!  As Ms. Skadi’s first litter, this protective maiden queen decided to have them under the cupboard.  It didn’t matter that I had prepared a lovely, soft, comfy bed especially for the purpose of birthing!  Naw!  She wanted to have them under the cupboard.  After they were born, the relocations started.  She moved them under the bed, then into the closet, then tried to put them under the kitchen sink until I stopped that and shut them into my bedroom, where she discovered my armoire (another cupboard), where they stayed until their eyes opened, whereby she decided to move them under my husband’s desk.  Poor wee ones!  It’s a wonder they lived at all, but it made them strong!
