Our Boy

LostWoods Bozeman of SassafrasKat

“Bozi”

Breed:             Norwegian Forest Cat

Date of Birth:     April 26, 2006

Father:       GC Ouijakatz Comet of LostWoods

Mother:       GC Meisterhaus Talia of LostWoods

Sex:          Male

Coloring:     Brown Classic Tabby w/White

Bozi is the gentle giant I always imagined to be the King of our cattery.  We adore this loving, sweet boy.  His playfulness and energy fill our home, and at night he is quite the cuddler!

It is quite interesting to see him go walking with Jerry on the harness, or should I call it jogging!  When Jerry gets up in the morning or comes in from work, Bozi is instantly aware that “It’s WALKING TIME!!!””  He goes to the front door and calls.  If that doesn’t work, he calls more loudly and reaches up to where the harness is hanging.  And if that doesn’t work, he goes for jingle-jangling the door harp and the lock on the door – all while calling to Jerry, “Lets go WALKING!!!””  Well, who could resist such a plaintive meow!!!  Jerry latches on the harness, and opens the door, and they’re off!!  Bozi is so excited about getting out there to chase squirrels, he can hardly contain himself!  The current record is scaring five squirrels up the tree during a single walk!

We owe a huge debt to Lisa Vasa for entrusting this darling boy to us!  Bozi is the father of all of our litters, and he is such a great dad!  He licks their bottoms and teaches them to wrestle, and offers them firm paw if they get out of line.  Love this amazing boy!

 The Girls

Norgeskaukatt Tyre of SassafrasKat

“Tyre” (pronounced Tyoo’-ruh)

Breed:             Norwegian Forest Cat

Date of Birth:     May 22, 2005

Father:       CH Elkington’s King of the Road

Mother:       Tigra De La Cachouteba

Sex:          Female

Coloring:     Silver MacTabby w/White

Tyre came to us from far across the ocean, England to be exact.  She speaks with barely an accent now that she has been in the US for so long.  But don’t let her origin fool you into thinking this is some moppish young maiden.  On the contrary, this is one of the only fourth generation  wegies you are likely to come across anywhere in the world, bringing with her the instincts, strength and raw power of a jungle cat, or in this case, a forest cat.  She moves like a jaguar, but on the inside, she is sweet and loving to a flaw.  We booked Tyre almost the moment we saw her.  We are overjoyed with her and her special wild feral looking expression. An absolute beauty with a wonderful temperament, lovely type and good strong size. Thank you so much Lorraine for our special Lady Tyre.  Tyre is the mother of Litter 2 - The Cat Nipped Castle Kids and Litter 4 - The Leap Year Litter.

Norgeskaukatt Skadi of SassafrasKat

Skadi

 Breed:             Norwegian Forest Cat

Date of Birth:     October 15, 2005

Father:       CH Elkington’s King of the Road

Mother:       Norgeskaukatt Drifa

Sex:          Female

Coloring:     Odd-Eyed White

As weird as this may sound, Ms. Skadi was custom ordered for me.  This beautiful snow cat is the absolute heart of my soul!  Once we had secured Tyre from Lorraine, I happened to mention to her that my dream kitty was an all white, odd-eyed wegie girl with lots of spunk and personality.  Tyre had not yet shipped from England, and Drifa was expecting a litter.  So we decided to wait to see if my dream girl might, indeed, be on her way!  Delivery day arrived, and sadly, there was only one kitten in the entire litter, but it was white.  So we waited.  And we found out it was a girl!  I was overjoyed at the news, and booked her immediately!  And when we found out later on that she was also odd-eyed and had personality oozing out her pores, I was over the moon!  Squeak (as we call her) is my girl through and through.  She is quite a handful sometimes, demanding that I quit typing on my computer and talking on my phone so SHE can snuggle in the crook of my arm for a few minutes of loving.  Of course, I am butter in her paws, and comply completely because she’s my girl!  In the middle of a stress filled day, she seems to sense when I need to be forced to take a break, and she helps me do so.  Amazingly, my blood pressure goes down and I find my happy thought as I listen to the symphony of her purr in my arms.  Is there anything better?

And what a good little momma she has turned out to be!  She is the mother of Litter 1- The Irish Cupboard Kids, and Litter 3 - Kingdom of the Snowbabies.  Again, my sincere appreciation to Lorraine for helping me find my heart of hearts, Ms. Skadi Girl!

 Our Other Kitties

 Captain Bigglesworth of SassafrasKat

“Biggle Bug”

Breed:             Persian

Date of Birth:     October 28, 1998

Sex:          Male

Coloring:     Silver Shaded

Biggle Bug was our Christmas present to ourselves in a year overshadowed by remodeling a century-old Victorian farm house.  What a welcome sprite of energy amidst all the dust and disorder!  I had read about how very loving Persians are, and how, many times they become lap-cats, but nothing prepared me for this lover boy.  Even now, when there is an opening on my lap, here comes Biggs!  He is the only cat I have ever known whose eyes reflect back an amazing shade of azure blue.  All the other cats reflect red or green.  That color alone assured me that this little guy would be sweet, gentle, and loving.
