Leap Year Litter --Lords & Ladies Leaping--            Once every four years, the astrological signs align to produce an extra day, added to the regular calendar year.  This day is called Leap Year Day!  And this one must have been custom ordered for Lady Tyre to deliver her lusty brood!             As all good royalty are obliged to do, Lady Tyre’s duty was to produce an heir (or heirs)  to the throne.  And that, she did with Lords & Ladies Leaping with joy!              We knew that her litter was due somewhere around the end of February, but the delivery day passed with no babies.  We decided that we must have gotten the date wrong, but on February 29th – Leap Year Day -- we heard the loud cry of the first born!  Rushing over to see what had transpired,  we found Ms. Skadi, Lady Tyre’s lady in waiting, (okay, so it’s really her sister!) sitting inches away, offering moral support to the Lady as she delivered one, two, three lovely babes!!  She seemed to settle in and began to nurse her babies, so we left her to relax and recuperate, checking in on her ever so often to make sure she was doing well.             Imagine our surprise when we peeped in, nine hours later, and discovered FOUR healthy babies!  I promise, I counted them – one, two, three, four.  I counted them again – four.  I must have counted them a half dozen times before it finally sank into my foggy head that she had delivered a fourth baby all by herself!  How dare she!!  How could she possibly do so without us??!!  ;-}             We are delighted to present to you, The Leap Year Litter – Lords & Ladies Leaping!   12 weeks  Graciee  Bella, Bandit & Elvis (reclining)   Date of Birth: February 29, 2008  Father: LostWoods Bozeman of SassafrasKat Mother:  Norgeskaukatt Tyre of SassafrasKat

Adopting a Kitten

     These babies are brought into the world by no choice of their own, so it is my responsibility as a breeder to do my best by them to find a home where they will have the best care and love possible, forever and ever.  It is also important, however, to try to find the right match for a potential adoptive family, too.  If you are looking for a quiet, lap cat for example, I would be doing you and the kitten a disservice by providing you with a high energy alpha cat!  On the other hand, if you have children who are looking for an indoor-only play mate, that type of cat would be a great fit!  So, if you are interested in possibly adopting one of my babies, I ask that you complete a Kitten Questionnaire. If any of the questions offend you, we apologize, but we will not place one of our kittens before we know more about where they are going and to whom.   Possible kitten colors include brown tabby (mackerel or classic) and silver tabby (mackerel or classic) with and without white, and solid white.  If I don’t have what fits you right now, I will gladly put you on my list to see if another kitten from an upcoming litter might be just the one for you.  Please email me after you have completed the Questionnaire to let me know of your interest:   wegiegirl@sassafraskat.com

SassafrasKat kittens are hand-raised, underfoot, and go only to approved homes willing to sign a contract stating principally that:

1)  The cat must never be declawed, and

2)  The cat must never be allowed outside without close supervision.  

All of our cats are registered with TICA and CFA. We provide a written health guarantee for known congenital and hereditary defects, age appropriate vaccinations ( feline upper respiratory complex and leukemia), and pedigree.  We maintain a closed cattery and all adults have been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV.  White kittens come with a BAER test of their hearing.

Cost:  Our pet kitten prices start at $700 plus shipping costs, if applicable.    Should you decide to fly your baby, your expenses would include airfare & insurance, airline required health certificate and shipping carrier. We require a non-refundable deposit of $200.00 to hold a kitten until it is ready to leave at 16 weeks old.  All remaining moneys due must be received at least two weeks prior to placement unless prior arrangements are made. 

Age:  Kittens will not be allowed to go home until they are 16 weeks of age, no exceptions. 

Collecting your Baby:  My preference is for you to pick up your baby in person so I can meet you face to face!  I understand that sometimes that is not practical, so we can arrange to fly your baby to you at your expense.  Be aware that there are certain times of the year that are detrimental to flying babies across the world because of temperatures.  We do ship both domestically and internationally.

Availability:  Please understand that all kittens are available unless marked otherwise.  Once we receive a deposit, we will change their status on our website to reflect that they have been Reserved.  Payment in full will be designated by Sold.  All kittens are sold as pets, but some kittens hold the promise of developing into a quality of cat good enough to breed.  These kittens are listed as On Hold, and my become available in the future.  If you are interested in a particular kitten, but they are not available, please contact me anyway.  Sometimes the best laid plans fall through, and the kitten becomes available.
